ADC Backs 2023 Igbo Presidency

Following the peculiarities embedded in the spirit of every peace-loving Igbo man to socio-economic and national development of Nigeria where ever he dwells, as well as the feelings of every well-meaning Nigerian is that the 2023 President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria should be zoned to the South Eastern States for the production of a well deserved, credible, transparent and accountable technocrat as the next president of Nigeria.

It is pertinent to note that the South Easterners have suffered serious neglect in the political space in Nigeria at all levels and the time to make a proactive change to better the lives of the South Easterners and that of the Nation at Large is now.

To this effect The African Democratic Congress ADC in a communique issued to pressmen after their southeast Caucus Leadership meeting held in Owerri, Imo State Capital last weekend aforesaid opined the following resolutions thus:

That President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria should be zone the South East extraction of Nigeria come 2023.

 That the southeast Governors Manning the Affairs of the 5 States that makes up the geopolitical Zone under reference should be proactive adding to their efforts so far in managing security lapses in the Zone without attachment to political affiliation and forthwith create avenue and synergy to tackle all forms of security challenges.

That the Federal Government of Nigeria should as matter of urgency restrain and restrict the overlap of the  Security Operatives who have flooded the major roads and streets in the Southeast geopolitical zone all in the name of Check Points.

That the Federal Government should consider the plight of the average Nigerian who are mostly traders and predominantly from the  Southeast, who faces serious threats and challenges in the hands of Security Operatives in Southeast and the concomitant effects are seen on the prices of goods and services in the Southeastern Zone which poses serious hardship to the haves and have- nots of this Nation.

That the Security Service Chiefs and the officers in their place in  Southeastern Zone must remain apolitical and render their services to all and sundry for the all-round security of lives and properties in the  Southeast without any form of sentiment as is the practice.

That the upcoming governorship election in Anambra State 2021 should be conducted by INEC in such a way that it will clearly be free, Fair and Credible which will surely pave way for the African Democratic Congress which has marshaled out strategies to clinch power to occupy the government house of Anambra State.

That the Electoral Umpire INEC  should as matter necessity Shawn partisan politics in their discharge if their duties and deliver credible elections throughout the Federation as a matter of urgency to save this Nation from imminent collapse.

That the forthcoming Imo North Senatorial By-Election coming up in October this year will receive the political shocker of the season as the ADC as a political party is fully poised and ready with her future candidate to contest and win the seat in the red chambers of the National Assembly to represent the good people of Okigwe Zone.

However, while briefing newsmen the National Vice Chairman South East of African Democratic Congress ADC, Hon. Barr. Ignatius Nlem stated in the said leadership meeting that was called for emergency consideration of the level of decay in governance in Nigeria with particular reference to the Southeastern States of Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Anambra.

Barr. Nlem added that his Party ADC is deeply concerned of what is happening in Nigeria and in the  South East in particular and by the said communiqué there is a greater need for an attitudinal change of all political office holders in the Southeast extraction particularly the State Governors, Senators, House of Reps members and houses of Assembly members to realize that the future of our future generation (our children and children’s Children and posterity)is sure at stake if nothing positive and proactive is done now that the gateway to grabbing the Presidency of this Nation Nigeria is open for the people of the Southeast extraction which according to Nlem will help boost and attract economic development in the Region.

Speaking further Barrister Nlem condemned the attitude of some unpatriotic uniform men along the express roads and their exhibition of extortion towards motorists, traders and civilians in the southeast who travel far to procure goods for the people of South East but end up facing serious hardship in the hands of these Security Operatives who extort them and these businessmen will in turn influence the prizes of goods and services at an unaffordable rate which affects the populace adversely.

Barrister Nlem further expressed sadness on the tactical exclusion of youths from participation in elections and seats of leadership and further illustrated the effects of giving the youths the opportunity to exhibit their potentials in governance mostly through Technology, Industry, commence to which the aged who are politicians in Nigeria can not finance the dividend in modern-day administration. He championed the motion that Youths should be given the maximum opportunity as in the days of Dr.Nnamdi Azikiwe, M.I Opara, Eze Dr.Akanuibiam and others knowing that our aged politicians who only participate in political office elections, grab power only to make use of it to divert NDDC contracts, State contracts, etc and as such grossly failing themselves and the entire people of the Southeast.

Meanwhile the States chairmen of the Political Party covering Imo Mr.Obani Andyson, Hon. Orji Away Kalu, Abia, Hon. Udume Samuel, Ebonyi, Cmr. Stella Chukwuma, Enugu, and Hon. Uzochukwu Eminent Anambra State were all in attendance for the meeting.

Trump Vacates White House

Outgoing President of the United States of America, Donald Trump has left the Presidential House, The White House, today, January 20, 2021.

Trump took off from the lawn of the White House accompanied by his wife Melania.

The helicopter which carried the recent ex-president took him around the surroundings of the White House to give him a final view before its arrival at Joint Base Andrews.

The event occurred ahead of the swearing in of incoming President Joe Biden and incoming Vice President Kamala Harris.

Biden who took the lead against Trump at the US Presidential election of November 3, 2020, will be sworn-in today at 17:00 GMT.

Trump will not grace the occasion as he has continually maintained his claim that the election was stolen from him.

The inauguration will, nonetheless, be graced by the outgoing Vice President Mike Pence, Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell and other GOP leaders.

FCMB demotes Adam Nuru, appoints Yemisi Edun as acting Managing Director

The First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has announced the appointment of Yemisi Edun as its acting managing director.

Edun takes over the running of the bank from the Managing Director, Adam Nuru, who on Tuesday, January 5, proceeded on leave amid allegations of marital infidelity involving him and former staff of the bank, Moyo Thomas. There are allegations that Moyo’s estranged husband, Tunde Thomas, 45, died on December 16, 2020, from a heart attack after battling with depression upon discovering that the two children from their marriage were allegedly fathered by Mr Nuru.

A statement from the bank announcing Edun’s appointment reads in part

“In line with normal corporate practice, Mrs Yemisi Edun is acting as the managing director of FCMB in the interim period while Mr Adam Nuru is on leave, and the Board conducts its review of the allegations.

She has not been appointed as the substantive Managing Director. As and when the Board completes its review of the allegations, we will provide an update.”

Edun has hitherto been the bank’s executive director, finance.

Teacher fakes her own kidnap in Kwara to extort N250, 000 from her father

The police in Kwara state have arrested a 24-year-old teacher, Medinat Ibrahim,  for allegedly faking her own kidnap just to extort N250, 000 from her father.

Medinat, who was paraded alongside two other suspects identified as Amudalat Wahab (30) and Hammed Lekan (28) said she committed the crime to raise money to settle a debt which accrued from the monthly contribution at the private school where she serves as a teacher.

She alleged she was maltreated by her stepmother who also caused friction between her and her father, adding that she decided to fake her own kidnap to get money to offset debts she incurred during COVID-19 lockdown.

I teach in a private school where I was paid N15,000. We organised monthly contribution which I collected and invested in a business, but when COVID-19 broke out, our salary was stopped, I could no longer continue with the contribution.

“Those who were in the group continued to mount pressure on me to pay up my own contribution and there is nowhere that I could get the money. So I decided to go and hide in my sister’s place and I told someone to call my father on phone that I was kidnapped and demanded a ransom of N250,000 which was paid to my friend’s account.” she said

Parading her before newsmen, the state Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Bagega, said Medinat conspired with her elder sister, Amudalat Wahab, and one Hammed Lekan to arrange her kindap and they have both been arrested as well.

The CP said a bank account, belonging to one Hammed Lekan, was used to cash the N250,000.
