Five days to the Imo APC primaries for Okigwe bye-election, the NWC of the APC has reaffirmed the caretakership of Nlemigbo in Imo state chapter of the APC.
This followed the letter dated 28th August 2020 addressed to the INEC and signed by the national chairman, caretaker/Extraordinary committee, Gov Mai Malla Buni and made available to Lead Newspapers.
As contained in the said Letter, Buni disclosed that Nwafor’s led SWC was dissolved on the 18th of December 2018 and in alliance with article 13.4xvi of the party’s constitution, a caretaker committee was set up and Nlemigbo was made the chairman to oversee the party’s affairs.
As contained in the said Letter, the dissolved Nwafor led SWC proceeded to court in suit No, FCT/HC/BW/CV/103/2018 between Evan Enwerem and, APC and 2 others which the judgement authenticated the Chairmanship of Nwafor.
While this judgement was subsisting, the Nlemigbo led caretaker in a, suit No, FCT/103/2018 obtained an injunction/stay of Execution Order stopping the enforcement of the former judgement pending the determination of the substantive suit.
In the said letter, Buni, however, disclosed that pending the congress of the party, Nlemigbo remains the caretaker chairman of the APC in Imo.
However, the implication of this move, remains that Nlemigbo by virtue of his position would be at the forefront of the APC primaries for Okigwe bye-election slated for Tomorrow, September 3rd.
