3500 Imolites To Receive N5m Loan From CBN, AS Uzodinma Foots Reg. Bill For Participants



In a demonstration of genuine love and sincerity, the prosperity government of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, has decided to foot the registration fee for the CBN/NIRSAL Loan Scheme to ensure that every qualified participant benefits.

It was gathered that the amiable and caring Governor of Imo state had to step in boldly because of his commitment to  Shared Prosperity and taking Imo people out of poverty.

According to the Hon Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Barr Kingsley Ononuju (Ekwedashike), the intervention by the Governor also became necessary following the failure of some corporate bodies who had earlier been contacted by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, to help bear the cost of the registration.

Hon. Ononuju, is hopeful that Imo people, will remain eternally grateful to the Governor for this laudable gesture.

All participants in the CBN/NIRSAL 5-Day workshop should, therefore, continue with the training as the issue of the registration fee has been taken care of by the government.

In a bid to cushion the effects of the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic which has led to mass sufferings, in the state, the Imo State Government in partnership with CBN NIRSAL has set out three thousand five hundred business persons from across twenty-seven local governments to be given what it termed single digit interest rate loan.

The said Business support Loan which would be granted to participants at a moratorium of 18 months would go a long way in stabilizing the state economy says the government.

This is even as the Imo State Governor Senator Hope Uzodinma had on last Wednesday kicked off the 5days program termed, CBN/NIRSAL Business support and recovery loan scheme for Imo State participants.

Reading his address, the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma who was represented at the function by his Deputy prof. Placid Njoku charged the participants to take the scheme seriously pointing out that the reason behind the state’s partnership with the CBN? NIRSAI was to create an economic recovery momentum in on full swoop.

The governor who used the forum to commend the commissioner for commerce Barr. Kingsley Ononuju as well as the Imo State Executive Council on their doggedness to return Imo to commercial and manufacturing activities made it clear that such a singular act has shown that indeed, they are committed to restoring the dignity of Imo.

In his address, the commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon. Ononuju while commending the Imo State Government for the consciousness of bettering the living conditions of Imo particularly the business owners pointed out that the scheme would build the economy of the state and by extension create more job opportunities for our teeming unemployed youths.

Ononuju who pointed out that the state government is toeing the line of civilized nations in growing the economy of the state charged the would beneficiaries of the loan to keep and adhere strictly to the terms of the loans. We have recognized that the single biggest challenge of the ordinary man to starting a business is access to fund, he said. Therefore this loan is designed to bridge the gap of starting up business and cooperatives.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo faction in solidarity with IPOB’s security network to secure Igboland



Chidi Ibeh, Ohanaeze Ndigbo-led factional leader has declared that it will help the IPOB Eastern Security Network and other indigenous security agencies to stop any sort of crime in the South-East region.

Ibeh, in a statement by Secretary-General Kalu Mkpa, a media assistant to the factions, noted that the body’s leadership has moved to put all stakeholders in Igbo land on the same page, including Southeast Governors, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and youths, in order to defend the territorial integrity of the Igbo nation against invasion by herdsmen and extremists.

Recall that Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, had launched the Eastern Security Network, ESN. He had said “ESN was formed to protect the Southeast from marauding Fulani herdsmen and other criminal elements.”

In Sunday’s declaration, the Ibeh-led group stated, “whether it is called the IPOB Eastern Security Network or the proposed Southeast Governors’ or Ogbunigwe Joint Security Office, we will ensure that potential invasions from outside will be stopped without further delay.”

Ibeh said it would assist in the full realization of “Enyimba Economic City” Aba, the reconstruction of the Enugu coal mine, the resuscitation of Port Harcourt-Maiduguri railways with rail links and links with all Igbo state capitals and commercial cities, in particular the Onitsha-Owerri-Aba connection, on the economic development of Igbo territory.

The US President-Elect, Joe Biden‘s appointment of three Nigerian citizens into his cabinet is proof that a decent number of Nigerians abroad are progressing nicely, notwithstanding whatever opposite view anybody may have, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama has said.

“Mr. Joe Biden, the in-coming US President, has three Nigerians in his new cabinet. It shows that Nigerians are flourishing – doing great any place they are. Nigerians should keep on showing their gifts any place they go,” said Onyeama.

The Minister, who said this at Okpara Square, Enugu when he flagged off the Public Service Works (PWS), one of the few projects started by President Muhammadu Buhari-drove organization to engage youths in the nation and deter them from going abroad to look for greener pastures.

Admitting that the circumstance of things has been very harsh and intense for the youths over the most recent ten years, Onyeama emphasised: “It hurts me how Nigerian youths are being trafficked to different nations where they are looking for greener pasture, where some of them don’t live to get the greener pasture; consequently this empowerment focusing at the youngsters of this nation.”

“The vast majority of the doctors, scientists, who are doing great abroad are Nigerians,” Onyeama, stated, recalling that when he toured the Caribbean Island (Jamaica), he was enjoyably shocked to understand that one of the best hospitals in that nation “is owned by a Nigerian, an indigene of Enugu State,” adding that “Nigeria is blessed with each beneficial thing. All we require is good leadership.”

Onyeama further stated: “I went with Mr. President to China around two years back. Furthermore, the President was considering how China had the ability to lift a very numerous individuals from neediness in three years,” clarifying that the three things that contributed to this included “having the ability to take care of yourself, having technical education and having money to finance the program.”

NIN Mandatory for Foreign Diplomats says Federal Government.



The Federal Government of Nigeria says National Identity Number is compulsory for foreign diplomats who will reside in Nigeria for a continuous period of at least two years.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami, made this known in a statement by his Technical Assistant, Dr Femi Adeluyi, on Sunday.

He said that an enrolment centre has been set up for the foreign diplomats at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The statement read, “The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has endorsed the establishment of National Identity Number (NIN) enrolment centre at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The desk will be set up by Tuesday, 19th of January, 2021.

“This enrolment centre will offer help for members of the Diplomatic Corps and will be overseen by the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, through the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC)

“The centre is being established based on the solicitation of the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, in order to simplify the registration process for diplomats.

“The National Identity Number is a must for diplomats who will live in Nigeria for a continuous period of at least two years.

“It is also a must for all other lawful inhabitants in the nation as written in Section 16 of the National Identity Management Commission Act 2007.

“The Law has made it a must for Nigerians and legal residents to obtain a NIN since 2007. Be that as it may, compliance has been low, as of not long ago.”
