1st Rainfall: Commuters Stranded In Owerri, As Flood Takes Over Roads, pedestrians Cry To Govt.

Yesterday January 10, 2020 may have come and gone but the memories would remain green in the memories of Imo people as a day both the pedestrians and commuters trekked home following blockage of the gutters and roads by flood.

The first drop of rain since the year 2021 in Owerri which though was not heavy kept people restless following the coverage of the main roads as well as the gutters.

This is even as Imo people as well as other road users appealed to the state government to charge the contractors handling various roads in the state to hasten up.

Our reporter who took time to monitor the movement of the people during the rain reported that the people felt the difficulty imposed by the said rain were the people living at the MCC/Uratta Road as flood covered every part of the road.

In order not to take the risk of driving into the deep gutters and gullies along the roads as a result of the on-going road construction, they decided to park their vehicles until the rain subsided.

This delay however made it impossible for passengers who could not see vehicles to enter their houses which later resulted in their trekking to their houses.
